MR SPRINKLES WORD MARK PROCESS
MR SPRINKLES WORD MARK PROCESS
MR SPRINKLES WORD MARK PROCESS
After establishing a clear brand strategy, I focused on developing a distinctive logo to define the visual identity. Through initial research and mood-boarding, I identified a quirky, hand-rendered approach that best aligned with the brief. Mr Sprinkles Munchies is a brand that rejects corporate-produced goods, which led me to draw inspiration from the “weird and wonky” fruits and vegetables found at farmers’ markets—uneven yet raw, organic, and true to nature.
Beginning with hand-drawn sketches and progressing into digital experimentation, I explored a range of rough logo concepts to capture this imperfect, authentic character.
Once the experimentation phase was complete, I selected one of the strongest concepts and refined it to a final outcome. My focus was on enhancing the “Mr” and “Munchies” typography while maintaining the hand-drawn, rough-edged aesthetic. This led me to illustrate a full custom font, designed not only for the logo but for the wider visual identity. As I would also be designing the packaging for Mr Sprinkles Munchies, creating a bespoke typeface allowed for strong brand consistency across all touchpoints.

THE MASCOT
THE MASCOT
My initial roughs explored a range of energetic, wild canine characters; however, this direction ultimately felt misaligned with the brand’s tone. The goal was to create an anthropomorphic mascot that conveyed care, fun, and an effortlessly friendly presence. As Mr Sprinkles will appear consistently across the branding—particularly on packaging—it was essential that the character be versatile and adaptable to a wide range of visual applications.
Lo and behold, one particular rough sketch emerged as the perfect embodiment of the brand’s mascot.
Friendly and caring, with an almost goofy charm, this character struck the right balance between warmth and trustworthiness. It marked a successful departure from the wilder tone of my earlier illustration experiments, resulting in a mascot that truly aligns with the values and personality of Mr Sprinkles Munchies.

THE VISUAL IDENTITY
THE VISUAL IDENTITY
With the brand’s wordmark and mascot finalised, the focus shifted to developing the wider visual identity. This stage involved selecting a cohesive colour palette, refining typographic choices, and illustrating additional graphic elements for promotional materials and window vinyls.
It was at this point in the project that the brand truly came to fruition, as all visual components began working together to form a cohesive and recognisable identity.

PACKAGING
DEVELOPMENT
PACKAGING
DEVELOPMENT
With the mascot and visual style established, I was able to progress into the development of the packaging designs. It was important that the character expressed the personality of each individual pack; for example, The Big Apple needed to convey the sharp, zesty nature of an apple while also playing into the New York-inspired concept behind the name. To enhance the playful tone of the visuals, I explored the idea of Mr Sprinkles adopting a Godzilla-like presence—tearing through New York City to create a fun, exaggerated interpretation of the pack’s wordplay.
Once the concepts were finalised, I exported the digital illustrations from Procreate and imported my sketches into Adobe Illustrator, where I redrew them for a more polished and refined finish. At this stage, I was able to sharpen the overall design, make final adjustments, and carefully select a colour palette that resonated with each pack, adding contrast and visual flair.
Following the successful execution of the packaging designs, the client was extremely pleased with the outcome and proceeded to have the packaging professionally printed through a printing supplier. Upon noticing that the client intended to use phone photographs of the packaging for their website, I offered an additional service to photograph the products professionally. This ensured the brand made a strong first impression and maintained a consistent level of quality across all customer-facing touchpoints.
