Hey, I’m Adam — founder and lead designer at Upheaval.
Let’s go back to the beginning.
As a kid, you’d usually find me face-down in a Beano comic or sat at my desk doodling characters and making my own comic strips — mostly inspired by Dennis the Menace and Wallace & Gromit. That love for drawing, ideas, and visual storytelling never really went away. It’s still very much part of how I think and work today.
At school, Art & Design was always the one subject that clicked. It gave me a way to focus that creative energy and turn it into something tangible. That path led me through college and university, where I developed my skills further and found my place in graphic design.
Working for myself was always the goal. In 2019, I finally made that leap — no hacks, no shortcuts, just hard work and persistence. Upheaval came from a desire to create bold, confident work and to challenge what brands are expected to look and sound like.
I’ve always been interested in how brands can shift perception in an instant — how the right identity can change how something is seen or understood. To date, I’ve worked with over 200 businesses, helping them build visual identities that feel considered, distinctive, and built to last.

Our mission at Upheaval is to craft brands that embrace disruption, like wonky fruit, built to stand out amongst the norm.
In an ever-evolving world, we stay grounded in raw, authentic methods and honest creative practice, delivering brands with real impact every time.
AI? We don’t touch the stuff. Our work stays human — pen in palm, ideas led by instinct, not algorithms.

For the past five years, I’ve been pushing brands into a competitive advantage, shaping everything from brand strategy through to final visual execution.
Aesthetics are great and all, but your brand needs strategic thinking to truly stand out. Creating something memorable and purposeful is the best way to give your business a real fighting chance.
